The Ulster Special Constabulary was formed in October 1920 and initially had three levels:
Full Time “A” Specials
Part Time “B’ Specials
Reserve “C” Specials.
Within months of its creation there were almost 27,000 members of the Ulster Special Constabulary acting in a support role to the Royal Irish Constabulary and its replacement The Royal Ulster Constabulary. Within a few years of its creation only the “B” Specials continued.
Consists of a British army jacket dyed black.
Hook up collar, patch pockets on breast, button down flap, 2 pockets below waist button down flap.
5 black horn buttons on front.
2 metal waist belt hooks.
