USC Armband.
As issued to the Ulster Special Constabulary,
U.S.C Brassard,
Fabric Armband with Black embossed USC to denote the member of the Ulster Special Constabulary. who were active in the period of transition between Royal Irish Constabulary and the Royal Ulster Constabulary.
The Ulster Special Constabulary was formed in October 1920 and initially had three levels:
Full Time “A” Specials
Part Time “B’ Specials
Reserve “C” Specials.
Within months of its creation there were almost 27,000 members of the Ulster Special Constabulary acting in a support role to the Royal Irish Constabulary and its replacement The Royal Ulster Constabulary.
Within a few years of its creation only the “B” Specials continued.
