Ballykinlar Camp Republican prisoners autograph book. The Book itself was produced as an Autograph Book and indeed has the remnants of the “Autographs” Title in what is left of the Front Cover – half of which has been ripped away.
The sample Pages within bear the following text:
The following verse:
“I once had a heart and it was true
It has gone from me and fled to you
Keep it safe as I have done
For now you have two hearts and I have none”
The second page has the following Illustrated verse:
“Then Forward! For the hour is come
To free our fettered Ireland
To cannon boom and roll of Drum
We’ll strike for God and Ireland!”
Contains verses and mottos signed by over 90 prisoners, mainly originating from Munster, but also from other areas including Donegal, Mayo, Longford, Galway etc.
Includes several attractive coloured drawings.
