A photograph of the Ulster Hall ceremonies 22nd June 1921 after the opening of Parliament by King George V.
In ArchivePhotograph
After the opening of Parliament ceremonies at City Hall in Belfast there were more events held at the Ulster Hall a short distance from City Hall.
This photograph shows the assembled dignitaries packed into the Hall’s seating both on the ground floor and also in the upper balcony and choir seats.
The Royal Party is seen in the middle of the stage.
The stage front is festooned with flower arrangements at the front of the stage.
Decoration drapes over the length of the balcony around the Hall and several union flags are also unfurled on the balcony.
Both Lady Craig, James Craig’s wife and Col. Crawford give wonderfully detailed descriptions in their diary entries of the events within the Ulster Hall on this occasion.
Both entries are visible in the PRONI Artefacts described within that section of the Digital Trail site.
